As you can tell from my blog I love to travel to different places. There are rare exceptions. However, the JW Marriott in Palm Desert is one of them. I started going to Palm Desert when I was a Junior in high school looking for a “tennis-cation.”  The resort is quite spectacular with exotic bird feedings, white and black swans, a river that runs into the lobby where you can take boat rides, among many other amenities. The real draw however is their abundance of tennis courts and that there are grass courts at the facility.

They have two-three group clinics a day, and I sign up for all of them when I’m there. The best part is that they never cancel a clinic, so if I’m the only one signed up, I get a private lesson. I thoroughly enjoy hitting there and relaxing at the resort when not playing tennis. In the surrounding area, there’s a restaurant called Cork Tree with great “California cuisine.” Ralph’s the grocery store is also the spot to get breakfast and cheap fruit.

Since Palm Desert is relatively close to LA we spent time there as well. We had a blast in LA doing all the tourist activities. One of the highlights was the WB tour. It was really cool to hear all about the processes that go into making a movie and the awesome exhibits and prop rooms. We got some cool pictures with the likes of Bugs Bunny, Aquaman, and Batman. We also passed by the LACMA to get that cool lamps picture and took a picture outside the La Brea Tar Pits with the Elephants. This was a birthday trip for me as well, so my husband took me to two Michelin restaurants. One with one Michelin Star and one with two Michelin stars.

What good is a trip to LA without shopping at Fashion Island? This is where I developed a love for Rebecca Taylor clothing. It continues to be my favorite brand. We also went to the Newport Beach area to meet up with a friend and shop local. I ended up getting a chunky sweater and some beef jerky.
