I’ve been to New York a couple times, and this time I was flying there to meet up with my fiance, so I was super excited. We definitely had a lot to do the days we were there, and it was labor day weekend so we got Monday off too.
On Saturday, I planned to see two broadway shows in one day! Before the first show we met up with our friend Eric and his mom at the Brooklyn Diner, and I got Eggs Benedict without the sausage. After brunch I went to see Dear Evan Hansen and overall it was a good show 7/10. While walking through time square we caught a glimpse of the Naked Cowboy. I don’t recommend walking through time square (so many people/ tourists can get overwhelming), but I feel like seeing him is a very New York thing.
Then my fiance and I walked around and spontaneously bought tickets for the 11pm showing of the upright citizens brigade. It was to feature local improv groups, and it was cheap so we thought why not? We found an amazing place to eat dinner and had a wonderful waiter. It was an indian restaurant, and honestly I could not complain if I had dinner from there every night for the rest of my life. They did a great job with the food and service. The place was called Badshah and I got Lamb Badshah Korma. 9.6/10 for this dinner.
Next it was time for my second broadway show Pretty Woman. My fiance went to see a Jazz concert while I went to broadway. I immediately bought a show shirt and I now wear it all the time. As for the show, if you can get the tickets half price I would go but otherwise it’s a very unmemorable show. 5.7/10. Then I met up with my fiance to see the Improv. It was pretty awful 1/10. We caught some shut eye and got ready for the next day.
For Sunday, we were debating whether to get seats for the US Open or not and ended up getting tickets at a discount which was awesome. We attempted to take the subway but after 30 mins and a very annoyed fiance I offered to buy the lyft for us. We got to Flushing and saw Serena Williams and Rafa Nadal both win. It was some great tennis, and our second grand slam this year. I got the signature drink the honey deuce which was fantastic. After, we went to blue note Jazz to see a concert and will not be going back ever again- awful service.
The last day we met up with one of my college friends at a brunch spot called Foragers Table. I got eggs benedict. Then we took the greyhound back home. my fiance and I were a bit disappointed we did not get to sit next to each other, and the air conditioning was broken, but other than that the bus was fine.
