My senior year of college about 10 of us went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. We slept in Church housing that we found on Airbnb. Because it was a church it had strict rules such as no drinking on the property. But for $30 total we did not care about drinking elsewhere.

Mardi Gras is a fun time and you might run into people you haven’t seen in a while. I ran into 2 high school friends while I was there. When visiting for Mardi Gras I recommend:
-Going to the Parades: If you download the parade tracker app you can go to any of the parades and see wonderful floats, listen to bands, watch dancers and much more. People on the floats will throw out beads that you can catch, and other toys that you can collect.
-*If you are of age*- trying out different drinks. There’s the Hurricane, giant slushies, syringe jello shots, and many more crazy drinks to try.
-Visit Tulane- its a really nice campus.
-Visit Cafe du Monde- for the beignets (a donut like dessert covered in powded sugar (warning the line to get in is long!)
– Go to Bourbon street for the night life
– Try the fried Catfish and the Gumbo

These are just a couple ideas to get you started, but overall New Orleans is bound to give you a good time. Especially during Mardi Gras.
