Montreal is a Canadian city that was super high on my list. My fiance had been dying to go to the Montreal International Jazz Festival for years and we were extremely happy that we could just drive there. On Friday after work my fiance picked me up and we drove across the border to Montreal. My fiance and I were really impressed with the city. It was clean and very pretty.
This was not a normal trip with an itinerary because we came for the Jazz festival which lasted the whole weekend. French was the predominant language there, but people did speak English. We saw a lot of free open-air Jazz concerts and my fiance also went to a paid indoor concert. The city really did have a very European feel. What was even better about Montreal is that we went there on Canada Day! All the Canadians were very nice, and there were some free promotional things for Canada Day.
The only problem we had was the day was extremely hot. However, we discovered that David’s Tea (which does also have branches in the US), gives out free tea (read Iced Tea) on Canada Day, which was necessary on a hot day. The hot day also gave us an excuse to eat some of the coolest ice cream ever. They had so many options. I got a smores cone. It was at a place called, Chocolate Favoirs. It’s well worth a visit! Overall Montreal was a great city to visit and I would definitely visit again.
