I started out the day at around 8am to head out to Charleston with my fiancé We drove from Emory in Atlanta, but first had a quick stop at Oxford College, the satellite campus of Emory. It was a nice small campus and it happened to be admitted students day we got some free food too!

Then we got on our way to Charleston and met up with some friends. We all ate at Mellow Mushroom, and went shopping in the downtown area. The stand out shop was the Savannah Bee Company on King Street (so many honey varieties to try!), and a dumpster that said “Trash Gurl.” We explored King Street, ventured into Charleston City Market, and had dinner at a nice restaurant.

The next day we went to Middleton Place. It was ok, but not worth $15 per person. After lunch, my fiancé and I went to the Caw Caw Interpretive Center. This place was great. It was two dollars to walk some trails and we saw really cool wildlife like interesting birds, and a baby gator too. It was a lovely spot to walk around.

We finished at the Interpretive Center and had just enough time to see the famous Angel Oak tree before it closed for the night. It was so large and I said to my fiancé that it looks like 3 trees in one. The park person actually came to me and verified that it was multiple trees that grew together. On the way back, my fiancé noticed school buses and he had never been on one, so we may or may not have climbed on to one so he could have the experience of being on an American school bus.

Then we got ready and had dinner at a place called Pearlz. Jack’s meal was better than mine. The lobster roll is not all that great there, but the monk fish was good. Following that, my fiancé and I went back to the hotel to get some sleep.

The last day in Charleston we planned on going to the beach but decided to skip it. my fiancé wanted to go to Patriots Point, the home of USS Yorktown (an aircraft carrier), but once we’d driven over there we decided $24 each was too expensive. Instead, on the final day we walked around Rainbow Row (where there are pretty pastel colored houses) and stumbled upon a Scottish dog parade. Charleston was a great place to visit, and one thing I wish I did in Charleston was take a picture in front of the Pineapple Fountain in Waterfront Park. Next time I’m there the Pineapple Fountain is top of the list.
